There Lies the Cross

VERSE 1

There lies the cross,
A beam of wood that was taken down
After they nailed Him to it,
I still hear the awful sound.
Nails into His hands, His feet,
With a crown of thorns on His head.
With a cry unto the One He called Father,
He gave up the ghost, He was dead.
And now they tell me He's the Lamb of God,
That He died, but He rose again!
I'm looking at the cross,
And I see Him wash away my sin.

VERSE 2

There lies the cross,
A beam of wood that was laid aside.
Surely this was more than a man,
Darkness covered the earth when He died.
And they say He offered no defense,
When they brought Him to the judgment hall,
With a cry unto the One He called Father,
He asked Him to forgive us all.
And now you tell me He ascended on high,
To reign with our God above!
I'm looking at the cross,
And I see our Father's love!

CHORUS

Reign, King Jesus, reign,
In all Your holiness,
In might, in strength, in pow'r.
Reign, King Jesus, reign,
In all Your loveliness,
Before Your feet we bow.
Reign, King Jesus, reign,
In Your authority,
In my life, my heart, my home!
I'm looking at the Cross,
And I see You seated on the throne!
