On the Mountain by the Sea

Well, I heard,There is a man speaking on the mountain by the sea.
And He said, He said (listen to this!),
He said, "Blessed are the meek"!
And He said, He said we must forgive.
And He said, By His words we shall live.

And He told them, His kingdom's not upon this earth,
And He said that we must love our enemies.
Can you imagine, with all the strife that's in this world,
He says, "forgive," and "love," and "Blessed are the meek"?

Well, I don't wanna do what He says,
I'm proud and I'm strong, and I'll fight!
I don't wanna do what He says,
I do things by will and by might,
I don't wanna do what He says,
but maybe I'll go hear Him speak His word,
They say there's something in the man
That they've never, ever heard...
Maybe it's love.

Well, I heard, I heard Him speaking on the mountain by the sea.
And He said, that there's a God in Heaven, caring just for me.
And He said, He said He would forgive.
If, He said, By His words we would live.

And He told me, my treasure's not upon this earth,
He will prepare a place in heaven just for me
Can you imagine, with all the strife that's in this world,
If we forgive, and love, and live the words He speaks?

And I wanna do what He says,
I'm weak and my life is filled with strife.
And I wanna do what He says,
His words seemed to give me a new life.
And I wanna do what He says,
I love just to hear Him speak His word,
For there is something in His voice
That I have never, ever heard...
Maybe it's love.

Maybe it's love for your brother
and love for your neighbor, and
Love for the family, love for the stranger, and
Love for the hungry, and love for the homely, and
Love for the poorest, dejected and lonely, and
Love for the ones who despitefully use you,
Maybe it's love for the ones who do not like you,
Maybe it's love for the ones who are not like you,
Maybe it's love for the ones who do not like you,
Maybe it's love for the ones who are not like you,
Maybe it's love for the ones who do not like you,
Maybe it's love for your enemies...

Well, I heard, I heard they killed Him and they laid Him in a grave,
And they say, the very ones who killed Him he forgave.
And they say, He rose up from that grave.
And they say, He is the Lamb of God who saves!

And they tell me, that all my sins are washed away,
By His sacrifice upon the cross that day!
Can you imagine, we heard Him speaking as a man,
And He's sitting down to rule at God's right hand!

And I'm telling you, what He said is life,
And what He did is life,
And I'm telling you, what He said is life,
It's the resurrection life,
What I'm saying is, He forgave the living,
And the dead He forgave,
I'm just saying He forgave...
And He's out of the grave!
