(A Candle Burns)

A candle burns, a candle burns,
A candle burns, a candle burns.
There is light in the house, light in the house,
Light in the house, light in the house.
And then the candle burns so very low,
The light is feeble now.
Not that the candle has done any evil or wrong,
But still the light is feeble now.

Then the vision changes to an old tarnished lamp,
The oil has flowed, the light has shone.
But now the wick is drawing from an empty well,
And the darkness does encroach.
I hear a cry unto the Lord of the house,
"Come trim my wick, refill my oil."
And then He comes, His essence filling the house,
He is the light, He is the oil
