The Fear of the Lord

(Beginning of Wisdom)

Proverbs 1:7

A little older, a little grayer,
A little wiser? Well, I don't know.
A little sadder, so it seems,
A little bit plumper in my jeans,
But there's one thing, one thing I know.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
The fear of the Lord is the thing to know.
The fear of the Lord will make you wiser,
Than all of the knowledge that a man could know.

Add to your faith, virtue,
To your virtue, knowledge,
To your knowledge, patient godliness.
Add to your godliness, brotherly affection,
And to your brotherly affection, Christian love.

And fear the Lord, it's the beginning of wisdom,
And fear the Lord, it's the thing to know.
The fear of the Lord will make you wiser,
Than all of the things a man could know.

One day I saw myself a vision,
People came to me for wisdom,
But a fool looked in the mirror back at me.
I was so lost within myself,
I didn't know that on my shelf,
One book contained one verse,
One key to the mystery, It said,

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
The fear of the Lord is no mystery,
If you live by His word, you're beginning on wisdom,
The wisdom of God that people need.
