Every River

Verse 1

Streams of living water flowing, push against my soul
Carving out a channel for the goodness of the Lord,
But I shift, I fall, I stumble,
I place rocks against the flow,
And the Lord looks down in mercy,
And just laughs and says, I know - that

Chorus

Every river has to wind,
That's the way God has it planned.
When you see a river running straight,
It's only by the hand of man.
And don't you know it's by God's grace,
That every river has it's place,
Running to and fro across the land,
But always in His hand.

Verse 2

Lord, the straight and narrow way keeps slipping
     through my hand,
I twist, I turn like a river running
     through a rocky land,
Lord, remake my life to run the way You want to flow,
And the Lord looks down in grace,
And says, Here, just let me show you - that

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Bridge(Verse 3)

Drive across this land, what do you see?
On a bridge on a stream, over a river,
Looking up and down the stream,
Do you see the end, do you see the beginning,
Do you see which way it goes,
Do you see when it bends out of sight,
That's just the way every river flows?

Chorus

And every river has to wind,
That's the way God has it planned.
When you see a river running straight,
It's only by the hand of man.
And don't you know it's by God's grace,
That every river has it's place,
Running to and fro across the land,
But always in His hand.
