The Call
(With Pen in Hand)

With pen in hand I sit before you dear Lord.
What am I to say?
My words are those of a bumbling fool that race forth thoughtlessly.
A constant summoning of noise. The voice you gave me is one set on edge.
Not melodious, soft or soothing. But here I sit with pen in hand again.
For to each you have given a gift, some prophesy and some teach .
I stand in awe of those that are brave enough to evangelize
and those that eloquently preach.
You have created us all different, a maze of gifts.
Each one is an expression of your kingdom. Here I sit with pen in hand again.
I shall never wax eloquently before the lost in speech.
But here I sit with pen in hand again,
throttling the conversation constantly flowing through my mind
to sqeeeze it onto a paper. For whatever purpose in your Kingdom you have called me to
I know it will be with pen in hand.
