Life Poem

---

First works, then life,
         is the promise of the Law.
First life, then works,
         is the way of our Christ.
For who is able to obtain a salvation
         by sacrifice of his earthly flesh?
Does not our flesh cry out with decay,
         the moment our life ceases?
Does not the Life of Christ in us,
         bring forth eternal life,
         one that moth or rust or decay shall never see?
For which is best?
For each to take painstaking efforts to cover up
         and make to look alive that which is already dead?
Or through Him who was slain from the foundation
         to bring to life that which was created through Him?
